Blue Lagoon Half-Day Tour from Split: The Complete Guide

The Blue Lagoon is a sheltered channel between the islands of Drvenik Mali and Drvenik Veli, about 40 minutes by speedboat from Split. Unlike the Blue Cave, there is no queue, no ticket and no timing window to chase — it is simply a wide stretch of knee-deep water over white sand, the kind of turquoise that looks retouched in photos and isn't.

Because it is shallow and current-free, it is genuinely swimmable rather than just photogenic — you can stand up almost anywhere in it, which is exactly why it works so well for families, nervous swimmers and anyone who wants an actual swim stop rather than a five-minute dip.

The Blue Cave sits on Biševo, roughly two hours of open Adriatic from Split each way — that is a ten-hour day by the time you add the islands around it. The Blue Lagoon sits 40 minutes out in sheltered water, which is the entire reason this tour runs in 4.5 hours instead of ten.

That shorter length is the point, not a compromise. It suits people with one free morning or afternoon rather than a full day to give up — arrival days, departure days, cruise port calls, or simply a trip where you'd rather not spend an entire day of your holiday on a boat.

The route is short but not rushed — three stops, each with a clear job.

Drvenik Blue Lagoon (90 minutes). The main event and the longest stop by far. We anchor so you can properly swim and snorkel, not just look at the water from the boat. Masks and fins are included for everyone on board.

Beach Bar Borko (45 minutes). A relaxed, low-key beach bar right on the Drvenik coast. Time for a cocktail, a cold beer or a coffee with your feet still in the water before the last leg to Trogir.

Trogir Old Town (45 minutes). A UNESCO World Heritage town founded in the 3rd century BC, packed onto a tiny island joined to the mainland by two stone bridges. Enough time to walk the marble cathedral square, climb the bell tower of St Lawrence if you want the view, and grab a gelato on the riva before the calm Kaštela channel run home.

The tour departs twice daily and the two slots suit different plans. The morning tour runs 09:30 to 14:00 — the sea is at its calmest, the lagoon is quieter, and you are back in Split in time for a late lunch or an afternoon at Diocletian's Palace.

The afternoon tour runs 14:30 to 19:00 — the water is at its warmest by then, and you step off the boat close to dinner time on the Riva. Neither slot is objectively better; pick whichever leaves the rest of your day free for what you actually want to do.

The half-day tour is €70 per person, group format, max 12 guests on board. That covers the boat and fuel, a professional skipper and sailor, snorkelling masks and fins for everyone, wind jackets, and bottled water throughout the day.

Not included: lunch (the timing works around it either side, not through it), and anything you buy at Beach Bar Borko or in Trogir. There is no entrance fee anywhere on this route — unlike the Blue Cave, nothing extra to budget for beyond food and drinks.

This is the tour we point families with young children toward first — the lagoon is shallow enough for kids to stand, the pace is relaxed, and 4.5 hours is a length most small children handle comfortably (minimum age 4). It also suits anyone prone to seasickness, since the entire route runs in sheltered water rather than open sea.
