Blue Cave is one of the most beautiful spots on Adriatic because of the amazing glowing blue light.
The entrance to the cave where the boats enter is man made and was created in 1884. There is also a natural entrance in the cave but it is located below the sea level. As you circle around the cave you will clearly see the natural entrance, as the glowing light coming out of the sea shines inside the cave through it.
The cave is made out of two halls separated by the stone bar visible just below the water line. The best time to visit the cave is just around the time we arrive (from 09:30 to noon). At that time the cave is lightened by the most beautiful blue color which is reflected of the white floor of the cave, while the objects below the sea surface appear to be silver in color. Depending on the position, the sea depth inside the cave is between 10 and 12 meters.
There are several caves on island Bisevo where according to old fishermen’s evidence there lived a number of monk seals. They used to call this animal the “sea-man” in their dialect – morski covik In the past fishermen persecuted monk seals because they tore their nets and scared the fish. The cave called Monk Seal’s Cave is the biggest among them located immediately behind the cape Biskup towards the bay of Baluni.
Today it is probably impossible to meet this kind of sea animal any more, though some fishermen don’t think so. The entrance to the cave is visible from the sea rising 17m above the sea level. The cave is 160m long while the entrance is only 5-6m wide. The cave becomes narrower after 50 m. There you come to a passage turning to the right. A rock in the middle of the cave will prevent you to continue going by boat. As the bottom of the cave is bare stone there isn’t much of the marine life. In the fissures you can see sponges, shrimps and algae. You will find your way to the exit attracted by the bright blue colour of the sea illuminated by sunshine. At that level you will see shoals of fish.
If you want to experience the unique cultural, historical & culinary treasures of Dalmatia, cruise with us to visit Komiža town.. Located in a deep bay on the western side of the island Vis, Komiža town is a beautifull Mediterranean village proud of its fisherman’s history, whose remains can be found in the Fisherman’s museum located in the old Venetian tower on the promenade (riva), the only one in Croatia.
Among various attractions, Komiža is famous for its local culinary specialities (such as domestic bread-komiska pogaca, ), which are offered together with delicious domestic wine (such as Plavac mali) and enriched by unique sounds od tipical Dalmatian klapa-songs.
In the middle of our tour, when the sun is high, you should take some rest before continuing with further activities that we have planned for you and that’s what makes it a perfect time to explore the south part of one of the best-preserved islands in Mediterranean, the island of Vis.
Easy cruising along the coast will give you an unforgettable panoramic experience.
Mesmerised by the heavenly untouched nature, the turquoise glimmer of its hidden caverns, magical caves and bays, you will get to see the beginning of the antique history of Dalmatia. Each of these bays have very beautiful pebble beaches and in one of the bays there is an entrance large tunnel which was used as a hiding place for military ships, built during the times the island of Vis was the most important military base. You will be amazed by a silver lining of the forty-five years of army- imposed isolation, which Vis had to endure until 1989, because its impact on the preservation of the island’s nature is remarkable.
Once we arrive on this beautiful island, it’s time for swimming it the crystal clear sea and enjoying sun on a beautiful pebble beach surrounded by unspoiled nature. On Budikovac there is also a restaurant with traditional seafood specialties and fine island wines.
